watchGPT Brings the Popular AI Chatbot to Apple Watch

Listen to the Podcast:

That didn’t take long at all. A third-party developer has brought the technology to Apple Watch just three months after OpenAI debuted a free online version of their AI-based chatbot.

Even though some people use ChatGPT a lot, its website is still the only official way to get to it. And every time you want to use the AI chatbot, you have to open your browser and type the web address into the address bar. This isn’t very organized.

But a new tool makes this process much easier for Apple Watch users. The Apple App Store now has a new app called watchGPT that lets you use ChatGPT right from your wrist.

The $4 software, watchGPT, allows users to interact directly with ChatGPT from the screen. According to the App Store description, users can also share watchGPT responses via text, email, and social media.

It is now accessible in English, Dutch, French, and Spanish.

“Hello to a new tiny assistant right on your wrist,” tweeted watchGPT developer Hidde van der Ploeg.

Van der Ploeg stated on Twitter that he would most likely add more functions in the future. These features include the ability to use API keys (passwords used by programmers to write code), view the history of your ChatGPT interactions, and instruct the software to read out loud its responses.

Only smartphones running iOS 13.0 or later are currently supported by the app. The file is 2.6MB in size.

When OpenAI published ChatGPT on November 30th, it made a global impact. Public relations professionals and college students tasked with writing essays have already embraced it. According to Wired, the utility has also sparked an AI tech gold rush.
