While movies dominate the conversation at the beginning of each new month, as dozens of new films flood streaming services on the 1st, shows become the star for the rest of the month on Netflix
So what great shows can you expect over the next 30 days? I’ve sifted through all the new options that will become available over the course of April and picked out the ten most intriguing ones. If you’re a fan of TV, you won’t want to miss these shows.

Hatfields & McCoys (Limited Series)
If you don’t know about the Hatfields or the McCoys, then you don’t know about one of the greatest—if not the greatest—family rivalry in American history. Initially driven by a stolen pig, these two families went from close friends to mortal enemies shortly after the Civil War. The feud brought Kentucky and West Virginia to the brink of war, and eventually require the Supreme Court to intervene. Hatfields & McCoys was directed by Kevin Reynolds and stars Kevin Costner, Bill Paxton, Tom Berenger, Mare Winningham, Jena Malone, Boyd Holbrook, and Powers Boothe.
Hatfields & McCoys will be available on Netflix starting April 1.
War Sailor (Limited Series)
This mini-series made its premiere at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival and earned lots of high praise from critics. The war drama follows a a troupe of merchant sailors who are caught in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean during World War II when Germany invades Norway. They are then forced to work for the Allied powers. War Sailor was directed by Gunnar Vikene and stars Kristoffer Joner, Pål Sverre Hagen, and Ine Marie Wilmann.
War Sailor will be available on Netflix starting April 2.
Surviving R. Kelly: Part III
Surviving R. Kelly is a powerful and chilling docuseries directed by Nigel Bellis and Astral Finnie that delves into the disturbing and shocking allegations of sexual abuse against R&B singer R. Kelly. Through interviews with survivors, family members, and legal experts, the series exposes the heinous actions of the singer and highlights the courage of those who came forward. Featuring compelling performances by the survivors themselves, Surviving R. Kelly is a gripping and emotional exploration of a dark chapter in the music industry.
Surviving R. Kelly will be available on Netflix starting April 3.
Beef (Season 1)
Is a simple moment of road rage enough to warrant an entire series? A24 thought so when it brought Lee Sung Jin’s offbeat comedic drama to Netflix. Easily the most highly anticipated series on the streamer this month, Beef centers on two strangers who allow a moment of road rage to completely upend their lives. Beef stars Steven Yeun, Ali Wong, David Choe, Young Mazino, Joseph Lee, and Patti Yasutake.
Beef will be available on Netflix starting April 6.
Transatlantic (Limited Series)
The trailer for Transatlantic promises a gripping series about an American journalist who spent 13 months in 1940s France arranging safe passage for thousands of refugees fleeing from Europe during World War II. Transatlantic was created by Anna Winger and Daniel Hendler and stars Gillian Jacobs, Lucas Englander, Cory Michael Smith, Ralph Amoussou, Deleila Piasko, and Gregory Montel.
Transatlantic will be available on Netflix starting April 7.
All American: Homecoming (Season 2)
All American: Homecoming is a high school football drama series that follows the story of Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) as he returns to his hometown in South Crenshaw after spending the summer at a football camp. Along with Ezra, the show features an ensemble cast including Taye Diggs as Coach Billy Baker, Samantha Logan as Olivia Baker, and Geffri Maya as Simone Hicks. Created by Nkechi Okoro Carroll and inspired by the life of former NFL player Spencer Paysinger, All American: Homecoming explores themes of race, class, and identity through the lens of high school sports.
All American: Homecoming will be available on Netflix starting April 11.
American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing (Limited Series)
To this day, the bombing of the Boston Marathon continues to grip the nation as we speculate how such a terrible tragedy could befall us. This new docu-series uses archive footage, reenactments and interviews to shed light on the two brothers who terrorized an entire city. American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing was directed by Floyd Russ.
American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing will be available on Netflix starting April 12.
Florida Man (Season 1)
“Florida Man” has become quite the meme over the years, with Floridians breaking laws in the most creative (and insane) ways possible. Floria Man takes that premise to absurd lengths with its character Mike Valentine (Édgar Ramirez), a disgraced cop who returns home only to get swept up in a deadly treasure hunt. The series was created by Donald Todd and stars Ramírez, Anthony LaPaglia, Abbey Lee, Otmara Marrero, Lex Scott Davis, Emory Cohen, and Isaiah Johnson.
Florida Man will be available on Netflix starting April 13.
Obsession (Limited Series)
Ever since the overwhelming success of movies like 365 Days and shows like Bridgerton, Netflix has understandably remained committed to financing erotic dramas. Obsession continues that trend by following a well-respected surgeon from London who gets caught up in an affair with his son’s fiancée that threatens both of their lives. The series stars Richard Armitage, Charlie Murphy, Rish Shah, Indira Varma, Pippa Bennett-Warner, and Celine Arden.
Obsession will be available on Netflix starting April 13.
Better Call Saul (Season 6)
Better Call Saul is a critically acclaimed television drama created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. It serves as a prequel to the hit series Breaking Bad and follows the story of Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), a struggling lawyer who eventually transforms into the infamous criminal lawyer Saul Goodman. The show also features outstanding performances by Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler, Jonathan Banks as Mike Ehrmantraut, and Michael McKean as Chuck McGill. With its exceptional writing, direction, and acting, Better Call Saul has become a fan favorite and a standout in the TV landscape.

The Diplomat (Season 1)
Keri Russell is certainly no stranger to thrilling political TV dramas, as The Americans was a hit show for several seasons. Now she’s back with The Diplomat, in which she stars as Kate Wyler, who lands a high-profile as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom that she doesn’t feel qualified for. The Diplomat was created by Debora Cahn (who worked on shows like Homeland and The West Wing) and stars Russell, Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ato Essandoh, Rory Kinnear, Ali Ahn, Nana Mensah, Michael McKean, and Miguel Sandoval.
The Diplomat will be available on Netflix starting April 20.
Firefly Lane (Season 2 – Part 2)
Firefly Lane is a heartwarming and nostalgic series that follows the friendship of Tully (Katherine Heigl) and Kate (Sarah Chalke) from their teenage years in the 1970s to their present-day struggles in their 40s. Created by Maggie Friedman, the show explores the ups and downs of their relationship and how they navigate career, family, and personal challenges.
