Jimin’s ‘Face’ EP Lands The Second-Largest Debut Of 2023 In The U.S. Behind Morgan Wallen

BTS’s Jimin makes a splash on the charts with his first era of music all on his own. While his single “Like Crazy” is dominating the Hot 100 as his debut leader, his first EP on his own, Face, also earns a splashy arrival on the Billboard 200 at No. 2. While Jimin narrowly missed out on hitting the top spot on both of Billboard’s most important charts simultaneously, his EP still managed to arrive with an impressive number of units sold.

Face managed to move 164,000 equivalent units in its debut frame. This number includes pure purchases as well as equivalent units made up of track sales and streams. According to Billboard, this figure is the second-largest debut of the year, at least thus far.

The biggest opening frame for any album in America in 2023 is still held by country singer-songwriter Morgan Wallen. The controversial musician’s third release, One Thing at a Time, launched atop the Billboard 200 with 501,000 equivalent units about a month ago. Wallen’s set has ruled the Billboard 200 for four consecutive weeks and fans are still consuming it rabidly.

It’s worth mentioning that while Face may have snagged the second-largest debut sum of the year, Wallen has beaten Jimin’s impressive number every frame his album has been out. One Thing at a Time has consistently sold and streamed well, and in its second week on the Billboard 200, it moved another 259,000 equivalent units. In week three, the album earned another 209,500 equivalent units. This frame, it managed another 197,000.

Of the 164,000 equivalent units Face shifted in its debut frame, 124,000 are pure sales. Billboard notes that this is the third-biggest sales week of the year and the largest sales sum for any solo act so far in 2023.
